Residents oppose proposed multiplex in GK-II

RESIDENTS of Greater Kailash-II are up in arms against a proposed multiplex at the Savitri Cinema complex to which the Supreme Court has given its assent.

Delhiites were enthusiastic about multiplexes a couple of years ago but the parking problems, congestion and traffic jams that have followed in their wake have made them do a rethink. And now, GK-II residents have said they are ready to accept DLF Universals proposed multiplex so long as it is far from their houses.

We are not happy with the Supreme Court order. We have no other option now but to wait for the operation of the commercial building and see what problems crop up. When we see the problems we will approach the courts again. We have to approach the traffic police too so the traffic flow can be smooth, says V K Gauba, former general secretary of GK-IIs RWA. DLF says the proposed multiplex will not inconvenience anybody. We have managed to build townships and have done it well. We have not really been able to develop the plan for this project due to litigation but we will make sure we dont inconvenience anyone in the area, says Shalini Wadhwa from DLF Corporate Communications.
