Old Gurgaon bypassed by swank makeovers
The millennium city may well be touted as a realtors paradise, but what is generally overlooked is the stark contrast between areas developed by colonisers and the old city of Gurgaon.
The latter seems to be stuck in a time warp, as it has been neglected both by the administration and developers. So you will neither find highrises nor malls — which abound in new Gurgaon — in this part of the city. Instead, narrow, broken roads and encroachments are a common sight in the area, most of which is divided into HUDA sectors.
Said C L Das, a resident of sector 4, A lot of hype has been created about malls and highrises in the localities developed by builders without taking into account the fragile state of the infrastructure.
Retailers in local markets of these areas feel that malls are poaching on their customers as well as power supply.
