5 held for damaging school property
Following an FIR lodged against some representatives of Parents Welfare Association in connection with disrupting peace and damaging property at the Central Academy School in Ambabari, Vidhyadhar Nagar police arrested five persons, including association’s coordinator Dinesh Kanwat on Thursday.
The parents were demonstrating against the school fee hike on Wednesday. The principal alleged that school property was damaged by a group of parents and other anti-social elements. Kanwat was produced in a court on Thursday which sent him to 15-day police remand.
As the police sought remand of 15 days, the parents alleged that the police are on the side of school administration as such a long custody is not requested even in case of hardened criminals. The parents gathered at the court premises when Kanwat was being taken there and shouted slogans against school administration and police.
